Summary:
We have a number of on-going projects and need developers to join the team. Specifically, C# .Net developers capable of handling the full stack (database, API, UI, server config.) Comfort in Linux would be good but isn't mandatory. This project is a test of your skills. For this test, you will build a simple web service that can save or return a single value. Your successful completion of this project will start you on a trial period with our team of up to 45 days at 20 hours per week. If you want more hours per week, it is a possibility after the trial period.
NOTE: This project description is a lot to read and we don't want to waste anyone's time. If you are requesting a rate above $15/hr, you can post a proposal stating that you would like to determine your hourly rate first so that we don't waste your time.
Deliverable:
1. Your deliverable must be a single file named "[login to view URL]".
2. This is how your deliverable will be used:
- Our automated build system will extract your deliverable file to "c:\source\" on a fresh server instance that exactly matches your assigned server.
- Note it is a "fresh server", i.e. only Windows Server is installed but not IIS, .NET Framework, Visual Studio, etc.
- Our automated build system will run "c:\source\[login to view URL]". Make sure your deliverable includes this file.
- You can assume that "c:\source\" is the starting directory.
3. Your deliverable is only correct if the following is true after our automated build system runs:
a. A web service called "stash" is hosted by IIS (e.g. [login to view URL]).
i. Compilation of the web service was initiated by your "[login to view URL]" script using C# source code and the newly compiled files were deployed to IIS.
ii. The web service responds to an HTTP POST request by saving the value sent as the "new_value" parameter.
1. Save "new_value" in any way you choose (memory, local cache, text file, database, etc). It does not need to persist through an IIS restart.
iii. The web service responds to an HTTP GET request by returning the most recently given "new_value".
b. A web page is hosted by IIS at [login to view URL]
i. Compilation of the web page was initiated by your "[login to view URL]" script using C# source code and the newly compiled files were deployed to IIS.
ii. The web page provides a way to interact with both the POST and GET requests of the local "stash" web service.
iii. The web page uses the web service URL, like it would if the web service was provided by a third party. The web page does not directly call the class(es) underlying the web service.
c. In case of a conflict on port 80, you can use port 8080 or port 8081 for one of the services.
4. Your deliverable must be your original work.
Rules:
