This week we continue our discussion of the Wilderness article by considering the criteria for evaluating the research procedures for conducting qualitative research. The criteria we will discuss are listed in Appendix 4 and elaborated upon in Chapter 13. Although both quantitative and qualitative researchers strive to select quality samples, the goal of these to research approaches are different. Whereas quantitative researchers strive to select a sample that is representative, qualitative researchers strive to select cases that are "information rich". 1- Were the authors of the Wilderness study successful in selecting cases that were interesting and informative? 2- What evidence and examples from the article support your evaluation.
