Illustrate my 10 year old's poem!

Contest Brief

My son's birthday is this weekend. He wrote the attached poem. I would like an original illustration of his poem. I can print on legal paper or letter paper to frame. I am seeking free hand drawing/images with texture, detail, dimensionality. The format of the poem needs to remain in stanza form, but the position of the stanzas can move around the page. Breaking the poem into three sections appears to be the most attractive. I would prefer any illustrations of children or wolves, to be in likeness to that of our European Boxer (uncropped ears and long tail) and my 2 children.

This is my first contest. I extended this contest by 5 days because i realized that to receive a high quality original image, it is not realistic to expect such a quick turn around. While i see potential in a few of the top submissions I do not feel they warrant the prize ($) yet. Any submissions not original will not be considered for the final prize. Thank you for your understanding.

    For the short list winners, i have left our thoughts about your submission. I hope it is appreicated, we wanted to share our line of thinking as a way of sharing feedback. As a couple people pointed out, each of these contestants on their own could have won this prize. It was a result of so many quality entries that allowed us to struggle with which one to pick relative to "personal fit."     I apologize for the delay on awarding a winner. The 5 remaining have made it to the short-list. Each have their own unique quality which we appreciate. A couple aren't "winner" ready but with a few changes would be a solid entry. Please be patient. This is my first contest and i'm trying to figure out how to handle.     Hello, I have just submitted the proposal #209, it's fully hand drawn and I got the original. I'm working on a version with the background in darker colors to resemble nighttime. I don't know if this is a must, but I just wanted to illustrate and transmitt the whiteness of the snow. Thank you any feedback would be appreciated.???

    Finally, I would like to clarify, when I star a piece of work, it is because I like the style and I am trying to help contestants understand what I am attracted to. It is no reflection of where they stand in the contest. When I am staring it is to acknowledge that I like the approach/line of thinking/style. But whether it is original or not (if I can easily tell, I am rejecting the submission), I am not yet focused on that. Other times you will notice, in the comments, that I am asking the contestant if it their original artwork to move the due diligence to the next step.
    If you find I have rated a non-original submission and have not removed it, please comment to that effect in the submission. I would be grateful. I may, for the next couple days keep it posted so that contestants can see what I am attracted towards, but know that as we get closer to the deadline, those submissions will be removed.

    I have added a couple photos of my son (age 11) and daughter (age 7). Also a photo of our european boxer (she has a long tail). Images of children/dog i would love to have their "likeness" used.

And while i appreciate your suggestion of compiling images myself, i really hope contestents can adhere to the spirit of the competition and only submit original artwork. I will not consider unoriginal illustrations for the final Award.

    Because #144 was rejected, the illustrations were made in watercolors, originals. #125 #59 #47 and #42 are using images downloaded from google and even so they were rated 4 stars, what a disappointment.

    I apologize for upsetting illustrators out there, I am new to this community and it is not my intention. I just joined this website yesterday (in fact I can’t even get my email to work!). I am unfamiliar with much on this site.
    I do want to make it CLEAR however – as stated in the contest description – the recipient of the final prize MUST have submitted their own original illustration(s). While I will do my best to vette the submissions after the short-list is identified, I ask the freelance.com community to help me call out these contestants who are not adhering to an ethical conduct.
    I have no patience for individuals who misrepresent other’s work as their own. This is not in the spirit in which I have asked for submissions. Anyone misrepresenting other’s work as their own will be disqualified from this contest. It is NEVER ACCEPTIBLE to mislead or misrepresent work as your own.

    I am looking for a final product to award final prize to. I also understand the risk of investing a lot of time if you aren't on the "short list." if you wish to submit an initial concept sketch to see if your style matches my expectations, i am happy to take it step by step and provide feedback for your submissions. I may reject out of hand with no comments (if it's not what i'm looking for) or if i think you are on the right track and leave comment seeking input, i will try to respond.       Hello, this is my first time, but the ones that match the style i am looking for are still active. I have rejected illustrations that are not in line with what i am looking for. You will see that the ones currently active look more "freehand" vs computer styled.... (does that make sense?). Whether it is done on the computer freehand vs on paper and scanned, i have no preference. Thank you.
