I operate in a small niche market so it is relatively easy to identify who my competitors are but it is time consuming to keep track of them. We have been attempting to keep track of them using a Google Spreadsheet but our spreadsheet is such a mess it is basically useless.

I have about 6 competitors on Ebay and about 6 competitors who operate standalone Ecommerce websites.

What I want is a spreadsheet / program / app / (or whatever) where one of my staff can log in every Monday and record the prices that my competitors are selling at. The output needs to be a clean report which identifies each competitor by name, shows the price they are selling at right now, tells me if they are in or out of stock, and shows a graph of all sales prices over the past 6 months.

Basically the winner of this contest will be the person who designs the easiest to use platform - it needs to be simple for my staff member to enter data (think of hotlinks) and the output report needs to be simple to digest - I should be able to make comparisons and decisions quickly.

For the purposes of the contest assume I sell "Garden Tools" and there are 6 businesses selling "Garden Tools" on Ebay and 6 businesses which have standalone websites selling "Garden Tools". You can assume that our tools cost $250 and the competitors sell for between $200 and $300. Some change prices regularly - some never do. I should be able to make notes against the names of my competitors (perhaps their location or a comment about product quality).

Note - you do not have to use Google Spreadsheets - use whatever program you think will give me the results I need. If you can somehow automate the data entry process (ie the data is harvested automatically rather than a staff member having to do it manually) I'd be willing to pay a bonus!

How many products per competitor? Are they same products all the time or do new ones appear?

Well this for sure can be automated the thing is that it needs to be adjusted to the specific sources, as you say "paste hotlink" really won`t work so smooth, if you could give for example 2 specific links to the items and prices you want to be keeping track of then from there it is relatively easy to both make an app or even more simply just a webpage where the info you need will be displayed, but it will nbeed to be adjusted for each homep[age, for ebay ok, it can be generalized, but for the standalone webpages it will definitely need to be tweaked to work seamlessly.

Hello sir, I can offer you a standalone application developed either in python or VB, which enable you to make data entry quicker & output will be in any format or layout you want, user friendly & very easy to maintain. graph, & other thing automation. But the thing is, developing a software will not be worthy if not awarded. you may directly hire me or any software developer . Or if you want i can sent you a sample of my previous work here which was similar to it.
