Contest Brief

For this project, we want to use the 6 image elements in "Elements.PSD" (attached) to create a large circular arena, similar to the ancient Colosseum in Rome Italy as shown at the link below.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colosseum

We want the design of the arena to take elements from the structure of the ancient Roman Colosseum, but we want the style to be futuristic, i.e. several centuries from now, into the future.

Imagine you are architect in charge of restoring the Roman Colosseum, on-site, in Rome Italy.

Because it’s a restoration, we want to keep some of the character of the ancient building (e.g. by incorporating the ancient stone).

At the same time, however, we’re redesigning it with a post-modern architectural design, for 500 years in the future…so this would be the year 2521.

So the re-designed structure may contain a mixture of spiraling metallic rails, glass domes, giant colorful gems, beautiful lush green foliage integrated with the original ancient stone we see there today.

The basic design is a circular arena with a large pool circular at the center.

The pool is surrounded by a circular track.

The circular track is surrounded by a barrier consisting of wall segments built from large ancient boulders set in gothic-fashioned iron frames.

Behind the barriers of iron and stone are clusters of various trees, gardens and other foliage.

Behind the clusters of trees is another track, the “tower’s track”. The tower’s track is traversed by a tall rolling tower that serves as a pedestal for an observation deck with tinted windows from which small groups of special observers can to watch the competition.

Behind the tower’s track are robust iron and concrete pillars supporting stands with the capacity to hold tens of 1000s of spectators.

Behind the stands (that is outside of the arena) are distant rolling hills, mountains and sky.

The view is from a perspective at the center of the arena looking outward from the center in the direction of the stands.

The final product should be two PSD files, i.e. “Elements.PSD” and “Arena Scene.PSD “ (and .fbx .obj .gltf files if a 3D model is using)

Rough sketched examples of these images have been uploaded to the folder designated for this contest.

The overall artistic style should be painterly, and similar to that of a Marvel Comic book graphic novel.

More details are described in the video at the link below, were I demonstrate how the different images in Elements.PSD can be copy-pasted to assemble each layer in “Arena Scene.PSD“.

hello For the competition you've started, we've created a model. Sketchup was used to create the model. We don't have enough time to complete the render, however. Is it more important to you to have a good model or a good rendering? We shall not enter the competition if it is rendered. We will, however, send you screenshots of the model if it is a model. Because we couldn't receive the render, we weren't able to add the effects and lights we desired, but we believe there is a model that can match your needs.

Thank you for your question. Please feel free to submit what you have, even if they are just screenshots.

However, it's important for this competition that each entry has a good 3D model and good orthographic 2-D renderings of the 6 images sketched in "elements.PSD".

Ultimately, judging for the prize will be based on 3-D model and the 6 orthographic image elements submitted with each entry.

      Thanks again for your interest!

Thank you.. One more thing, if you really wish to have a 500 years futuristic theme all around, it must have a BIG contribution of lights.. I am planning to use excessive futuristic lighting through the entire design and it will be wholesome NIGHT scene.. Please confirm me at this point, if this is something you do not want, and whether the scene must be a daylight scene..

There is no requirement that it be a day scene. I think a night scene would be very interesting.
