Contest Brief

WHO WE ARE:
We are an organisation of MIT Data Science graduates and other top researchers and consultants in Artificial Intelligence, Climatology and Agronomy Science, which work together as an INNOVATION center to fight climate change. We are inspired by the Project Drawdown (see link), which is a science project, and want to bring these ideas into business practice:

Our mission is to reach Drowdown, i.e. the moment carbon emissions start declining, before 2050, by applying Artificial Intelligence in the sector of Agriculture, Food Production and other resource intense industries. We see this challenge as a opportunity, not a threat. We are not a classical company, but rather a loose organisation of like minded and highly skilled people..you can see us as a Movement.

WHAT WE NEED:
We already started developing some names and logos, but nothing fixed because we need professional support. However, the enclosed and linked stuff might give you some inputs/ideas of what it should represent:
- It should make some reference to project drawdown, as under above website
- it should also come out clear that we work with Technology and innovation
- The key values Climate change, Artificial Intelligence, Optimism, Unity
- We chose the colors Blue(225895) which should represent Climate, Yellow (FFC000) should represent intellect and Green (008364) world/humanity. You can change these colors of you have better ideas, but in general we like them :)
- We communicate often with large, clear, fresh pictures. Hence, we need maybe 2 logos, one coloured one and one white or simplified one for on picture background
- our style is rather straight forward, fresh, optimistic, quick, innovative, young, friendly

Attention: we dont want to have the classical green business stuff, not a boring consulting firm logo. We try to be something that does not yet exist, this should reflect in Branding

YOUR TAKS:

1. Define the Definitive Brand Name:
- Some ideas are DRAWDOWN INNOVATION, DRAWDOWN LABS, but feel free to change this. It should stay within the above. It should make reference to Project Drawdown, but not be a copy (what our draft actually is).

2. Design the Logo:
Design the Logo in two versions, one coloured for use on white background and one for use on image background, unless your logo is so good that it goes on both.

A good designer has the chance to be hired to help defining our marketing story and website if willing.

Dear Fatema B., I always appreciate Feedbacks by designers. But some of your comments are not appropriate and have no fundament. Our assistant is consistently researching in the internet for copies, but none them have been found. If you see a clear copy, you are welcome to report the source. Also to highlight that we are talking about simple logos which are a simple combination of basic shapes. Such shapes are anyway very difficult to protect and honestly, if some guy somewhen in India or Bangladesh comes up with a similar logo, he can try to sue us. What counts for us is Brazilian and US law. I also hope I dont need to interpret your comments as a attempts to undermine your colleagues and gain an advantage. If we see such behaviours, we will delete the designer. Open competition is a basic principle.

UPDATE: Dear Designers, your excellent work inspires us ever more. So meanwhile we are convinced that we want to have the symbol somehow representing a EARTH BALL (this represents climate), made of nodes, some of which connected others isolated (which represents AI). So the challenge is now to make this SIMPLE and expressive. Play with colors and shapes. I am sure soon . we can already award a winner. There are many good examples and I like the dark blue-Yellow, dark blue - bright blue. But play also with some green-dark blue...it's up to you

regarding color please work with the darker blue i suggest in the brief. it represents sky color and we often use this color in our communication. The second color you are free. It should represent the values of the company. PLEASE ALSO MAKE SURE THE LOGO . WORKS IF FULLY WHITE IN A DARK IMAGE BACKGROUND

Regarding writing, I like that there is some structure in it, be it by color alternation or with the strip. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR LOGO ALSO WORKS IF THE NAME IS DRAWDOWN LABS!

Dear Designers
there are already some good entries, some really good logos and other good writings. Here some general feedback and suggestions:
- don't forget that you can play/change with the name itself as well. DRAWDOWN innovation is not set in stone. Labs, Tec, "word plays" and abrevistions might also be options

- the symbol should clearly combine the topic climate + technology in a simple way
- regarding colors, if you see the communication style on website, you see that we use many sky pictures. the Blue we defined comes from there. hence it's maybe good to stick with that or it should go well with it. our main style will be clean white with sky blue
Most important: I keep emphasizing that you may CONVINCE us. whatever I write above is just to give you my current ideas. But you are the designer and we will go for the most convincing.
