Contest Brief

We are a leading provider of chat filters for large games and social networks. We process over 30 billion messages a month and are looking to improve our moderation tools with a new design. This is part 3 of 4 contests designed to find the best designers on Freelancer so we can commission the larger project of a moderation tools redesign.

This project specifically is looking for a design for the steps to create a new rule. In this example our clients want to prevent people from saying "badword" So it walks them through several quality control steps to make sure it won't create false positives.

The best designers will be given the opportunity to bid on the larger project.

Employer Feedback

“Rachid won our contest for best layout for our new tool. We where struggling with the right user experience and Rachid took me up on my offer to try an alternate approach than what we were suggested. It was exactly what we needed. Great job!”

Hello. I have a question. When we creating a rule, we set Risk levels and Topics to whole rule or to each word separately? Or both?

In screen 1, how the use above button will work ? It will create uppercase ?

@Tanvir, they tell that they "don’t generally use caps or punctuation in rules.
The system will always simplify and remove both when classifying". So I assume this "above button" is necessary.

I am open to creativity about this button and how this works. it appears several people where confused so it could use a better UX

the goal is there is a place to type something. Often people type the wrong thing in there because it has capital's and exclamation marks. The simple lowercase is almost anyways better.

Maybe it should default to what they type and only show the bottom if they type something wrong ad a suggestion. or maybe you have a better idea

and yes there is cases where we need to use their version like. you have a nice pASSword. or go to he11

I have had some questions about the design colors. in the document there are two screenshots of other parts of our tool. one shows reported content and another shows a rule audit. this is examples of our colors, fonts, shades, buttons.

You don't need to design those screens just the ones on add a new rule.

Your design should follow that dark theme and font size and choice

if you can make it better that is great. keep in mind we value simplicity.

I am looking for some creativity on screen 3. What I am trying to communicate is how often that word is used inside other words. sometimes people make bad rules because they forget that there are many legitimate uses of that word. instead they should be making the rule on a combination of words that are more accurate
