Contest Brief

*** Looking to select up to 25 winners ***

Hello contestants,

For a research project, I am compiling a list of different processes that drive change in a particular aspect of life. For example, the scientific revolution and its invention of the scientific process have enabled humans to create millions of amazing things that could never have been discovered in any other way. Or John M. Gottman’s idea of emotional bids (turn towards, turn away and turn against) changed the way we analyze relationships. I’m looking for more of such processes that encompass large fields of study, specifically in the following fields:

* Emotional regulation: A process can be found in the book emotional agility by Susan David
*** Or another one can be found in the book Rising Strong by Brene Brown
*** There is also Cognitive behavioral therapy
*** A process for understanding thoughts and beliefs. e.g looking at what you feel, the though there, the beliefs, its assumptions and so forth.

* Self-compassion: A process can be found in the book Self-Compassion by Kristen Neff
**** or really anything that can help with inner criticism, shame and judgment. I’m looking for a process that can help you deal with it better.

* Relationships: some ideas can be found in John M. Gottman’s work.

* Problem-solving: As for how to effectively solve a problem. For me it is defining a challenge, breaking it down into small, doable steps and solving them one by one until I have the final product.

* Critical thinking: A great process can be found in the book The Five Elements of Effective Thinking by Edward B.Burger

* Social Connection: How to genuinely connect with anyone and develop the art of charm.
*** Social boundaries: A process can be found in the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

* Self-expression: What is a way to develop better vulnerability?

* Creativity: There are some ideas proposed by author James Altucher and Austin Kleon

* Learning: What is the best way to learn?

* Defining good vs. bad values: A process can be found in the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

* Relationship with Food: A process can be found in the book Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole

* Mindfulness

* Dating: how does one get most out of it, and how does one connect on a date.

* Curiosity: How to develop it

* Exercising and enjoying physical movement.

* The thinking process of an engineer

* The process that entrepreneurs go through.

* A process for writing a blog article.

* A process to deal with uncertainty

I’m open to any other processes that can generally help any human. For example, scientific process or critical thinking is helpful to anyone. Or the process of intuitive eating is helpful in understanding our body's need for food and what it needs.

A process should be a minimum of 50 words and organized in a process fashion by using a bullet or numbered points such as the following:

This is a process compiled from the book Five Elements of effective thinking.
Method: Critical (slow) Thinking - Harder and takes more energy and not intuitive compared to fast thinking.
1. Earth: Rock solid understanding
*** What do you understand? And what's missing in our understanding?
*** Break it down to get a deeper understanding.
*** Seek the essential

2. Fire: fail and learn from missteps
*** What makes it true? Can you test it? How can you prove your assertion?

3. Air: create and ask challenging questions
***Raise questions? Why does it matter? to me? Why learn it? What ties ideas together? Underlying theme? and so forth
*** It enlivens our curiosity

4. Water: consciously consider the flow of ideas.
*** How does it connect to other things? In time and space?
*** can you improve on it? Imagine and extend the ideas, can it be made better?

if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

What would you suggest? .... And keep in mind, I'm only asking for one, not more than that as this is a trial to see how the crowd source model will work. Plus, I have provided some examples which I assume will get people started. Let me know your thoughts.

I want the processes that are already established in a particular field of study and is backed by some form of research. My examples qualify, so you can certainly use them and compile those ideas in an organized fashion. Or you can find another process that is useful within my criteria or within the topic of examples and share that. Does that make sense?
