3 Ways to Generate Leads through Social Media

Posted on - Last Modified on

Social media is a powerful tool that businesses use to engage with their target markets and generate leads. However, it’s not as easy as it seems and involves more than simply creating social media accounts for your brand and posting content related to your product and services.

It’s about knowing where to focus your efforts as you implement your strategies on your social media platforms. It greatly involves interacting with the rest of the community in order to build a reputation for your brand and naturally draw the market to you.

Here are three ways to do so:

1. Promoting Posts Through Facebook

This is a good way to reach out to the right audience. When you advertise through Facebook, it can generate the right traffic to a specific content, which can be a good way to engage the audience that you’re trying to reach.

The key here is to promote content that doesn’t necessarily land on a quote-request page or landing page. Remember, an important part of effective Internet marketing is providing solutions. You can’t do that by forcing people right away to buy your product without knowing how it would benefit them.

Though it comes at an extra cost, advertising on Facebook allows you to bring a higher level of exposure to your page or a particular post, which it wouldn’t normally get through organic means.

2. Participating in Twitter Chats

Twitter chats are public forums on Twitter that you can follow through a specific hashtag. You can join existing conversations related to your brand or product, or simply create your own.

Participating in Twitter chats is a good way to make your presence known and build credibility. However, keep in mind that this is not the platform for making sales pitches. When you join a twitter chat, stay on-topic and join in the conversation. Talk about your product only when it’s appropriate and only offer it as a suggestion. Avoid being too upfront about it.

Take note of the individuals who can be potential customers and follow them. But don’t immediately make a sales pitch to them. Instead, build a relationship with them by offering additional resources about the topic in the Twitter chat they participated in. Once you gained their trust, that’s the time to suggest and market your brand.

3. Joining Linkedin Groups

Just like Twitter chats, you can join existing groups on Linkedin or create a new one.

Linkedin groups are good avenues to interact with other members of the community who are also interested with the same topics and subjects, and this may include your brand or nature of business.

Find the right groups to join. Afterwards, create your presence by interacting with the group. You can do this by sharing relevant content to the conversation. You can also answer questions that some members may have, especially they're in line with your expertise. To back your answer up, you can provide related resources that can be found on your own website.

To generate leads, identify individuals who seem interested in your line of business or those who are simply there to find solutions. What you can do is briefly answer their inquiry in public, but offer a more intensive response through a private message. That can be a good opportunity for you to build trust and eventually introduce your brand to them.

If you know of other ways to generate leads through social media aside from the three discussed above, please share to us in the comments section below.
